Greetings,

Just a brief newsletter for July. Please note that we will not be having a
normal workday on Wed. July 4th, though you’re welcome to come by and walk
around.

Summer Workday Schedule:


•    Tues. 4-7pm with pot-luck following. Wed. 8-12noon. Thurs. 4-7pm. Fri.
8-12noon. Saturday 9-12noon, pot-luck following. Please bring a dish and
your own plates and utensils.

News:


•    July harvest—potatoes, lots and lots of potatoes (1,000 lbs. and
counting), kale, summer squash, pole beans, snap beans, cucumbers, basil,
cut flowers (cosmos, zinnias, sunflowers), swiss chard, garlic, and by
mid-July tomatoes.
•    Calvary UMC Community Garden Dedication—Thurs. July12 Calvary UMC will
host a service of worship to dedicate their new community garden, which was
inspired in part by the work of Anathoth. Fred will offer a homily at the
service. All are welcome to attend. Contact Fred if you’d like to go.
•    Gardening Class: "Gardening the Anathoth way—How to Start and Maintain
Your Own Raised-Bed Organic Garden." Not too late to join us for the two
remaining classes: Thurs. 7/5 and Thurs. 7/19. 5:30-6:30pm
•    Anathoth video is here—we now have copies to distribute. Please see Fred
at Garden or Melissa at church. The DVD is free, but if you’d like to donate
something to cover printing costs we’d be grateful.

Calendar:


•    Youth Group Visitors—Two youth groups will be coming to the garden this
month: Pleasant Green UMC on Thurs. 7/12 and Thurs. 7/19 from 9:30-11:30 and
Duke Youth Academy Wed. 7/18 and Wed. 7/25 in the afternoon. These groups
will be doing volunteer work and learning about the garden.
•    Bread-Body-Land—A two day gathering on Food and the Lord’s Supper, jointly
sponsored by the Valparaiso Project and Caring Communities, Oct. 5-6 at
Cedar Grove UMC. Details TBA
